News: 도봉구 유흥업소 밀집지역, 청년작가 예술촌으로 재탄생
Excerpt from News on NEWSIS

Excerpt from Asli Shebe's review on From the Hand
The thought that all of the varying work, no matter how diverse they may be, comes from the hand is where the name for their group exhibition “From the Hand” came from, and the thread that ties the five of them together.

From the Hand
From the Hand is a group show of work by the artists Jinny Choi, Abby Cochran, Hanna Hentze, Morgan Smith, and Oliver Stephens. Through a variety of art practices the concept of physical manipulation is explored. The works exemplify how painting, sculpture, and installation serve as powerful testaments to the human ability to create through physical manipulation of media. Artists Choi, Cochran, Hentze, Smith, and Stephens found unity in their shared passion for the tactile pleasure of creating with their hands.

Sip: A Ceramic Cup Show
SIP: A Ceramic Cup Show is our Community's annual large scale cup show. The exhibition, set for February 17-25, 2017 at Non-Fiction Gallery (1522 Bull St.), features over 150 functional, handmade ceramic mugs, yunomi and more from clay artists across the nation. Through this exhibition, we hope to show the diversity of a drinking vessel and allow visitors to become owners of hand-crafted ceramics. Proceeds will benefit each artist, and a percentage of all sales will be donated to the Emmaus House to help provide nourishment for the hungry in Savannah.
Each vessel in the show will be placed on its own individual shelf on the wall, crediting each piece for what it is–a work of fine art. During the closing reception, we will take the ceramics from the wall into the hands of the viewer to allow the customer to experience the functional aspect of the pieces. That night, all those who purchase cups or mugs will be able to use them to sip tasty beverages and then take the pieces home.
Exhibition Dates: February 17-25, 2017
SCAD presents “Small Works,” an annual juried exhibition of work by SCAD students, alumni, professors and staff. All works are for sale and measure 18 inches or less in all dimensions. The majority of the art can be purchased for less than $300 per piece, and the exhibition includes photography, paintings, prints, jewelry, fibers, sculptures, artist books, ceramics and illustrations.
